In November 2003, new EU legislation was introduced to make it easier for people to understand tyre purchasing with a view to reducing tyre related road accidents.
Lower rolling resistance saves fuel. The values A to G indicate the effect on fuel consumption, from low to high.
This value indicates the noise level in dB that can be heard outside the vehicle. Low noise tyres reduce noise pollution for the surrounding areas.
In the category ‘grip on a wet road surface’, the classifications A to G indicate the relative braking distances, from short to long, on a wet road surface.
